Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Recraft Collage Box

We are doing great and doing the 3 R's: Reduce Reuse and Recycle but we've added a 4th R: Recraft :) what better way to reduce your trash then to reuse, recycle and recraft it into fun open ended art for your kids! :)

We have a recycled items college box, where day to day items that would end up in the trash end up in the box ready to be made into what ever the girls want.

This project was done with a bunch of old nature magazines that would have just gone in our recycle container, so still a green step but now the magazines are enjoyed when made into art!

We have a big box that we decorated with some kraft roll paper and its sitting off to the side of our dining room out of the way/view. We put anything that can be reused for crafts:
  • tp rolls and paper towel tubes,
  • boxes (break them down and use the inside)
  • wrapping paper and ribbon
  • scraps of construction paper
  • leftover holiday themed stuff (stars, stickers, confetti)
  • torn apart magazines (they love going through the nature magazines and cut and tear out all the animals, usually by the time they are done their is nothing left to throw away. How green is that :) plus fun)
  • anything that can be collaged gets thrown in there we love
So there you have it our Greening Our Year 2012 :  Recycled Art Collage Box! :)  I love that this gets the girls involved and it makes cute art for us to decorate the house with :) what could be better!

More Greening Our Year 2012 post coming
